Coventry Hopes To Reclaim Old Positions

Coventry City have managed to strengthen the team by bringing in Sheffield Wednesday midfielder David Prutton on a loan deal till the end of the campaign. The midfielder will be providing massive experience to the team, as Steven Pressley hopes to guide them to a strong finish. This at least will help them think about promotion to the Premier league next season. After severe financial difficulties over the last few years, Coventry are slowly rebuilding back to the top of the English league table. They are expected to be promotion challengers this campaign, but the club sits 13th in the table with only a few matches remaining in the campaign.

Any hope of relegation and promotion are surely over for Pressley and his men, but the manager has been looking to add to the squad strength in the last few weeks. He has managed to complete the loan signing of Prutton. The 32-year-old has played for eight different clubs during his professional career and Pressley has praised the experience that he will bring to the club. Apart from featuring for several clubs, Prutton has also appeared for the England under 21 team during his younger days. He was once a £ 2.5 million signing for Southampton. He has made almost 500 appearances at these clubs.

“He has played at the highest domestic level. He also has a detailed knowledge of this division and its demands. We are delighted to have him on board to help us finish the season on a high note. With the loan departures of Adam Barton and Billy Daniels and John Fleck’s two-game suspension it was vitally important that we brought in a player with established quality, leadership skills and experience and David certainly fits that mould,” said Sky Blues manager Steven Pressley after the announcement of Prutton signing.
